Athenaeum ‘07

Guyz we just finished with Athenaeum 2007, our 1^st ever National level symposium on research papers. The event spread across two days that is March 17^th and 18^th was a grand success for the BIM family. Initiated by the setting up of CECMAR Centre for Contemporary Management and Research at BIM, under the guidance of Dr David P. Jawahar, Athenaeum got off to a grand start on March 17^th.

 

Delegates from all over the world including Pakistan and
Canada participated in the 2 day event which had research papers dealing on “Bottom Line HR and IT in Business & IT as Business”.  We had delegates from IIT’s, NIT’s, MNCs, various state and central universities coming and presenting their research topics.

 

Also discussion sessions were held by eminent corporate personalities on the various prevalent and emerging HR and IT issues in today’s organizations.

 

It was a glorious moment for BIM & CECMAR as Athenaeum 2007 got ISO 9001 certification.  The first day of the event saw cultural performances being performed at the end of the first day by the students of BIM on various Hindi, English, Marathi, Tamil songs and dances.

 

The event came to a close on the evening of 18^th March when the MBA students from IIT Chennai winning the best paper award in the HR category and the award for the best paper in IT management being shared between an employee from Satyam and MBA students from NIT Trichy.

BIM Calling………   This topic goes on as the song ‘Hotel California’…..settled somewhere outside the small but peaceful and temple city of Trichy is our haven what the world knows as BIM or rather Bharathidasan Insitute of Management. 

All of us came from big metros like Delhi, Pune etc and Trichy was a pleasant surprise for it was so different from these fast paced cities. BIM is established inside the BHEL complex. The first time I drove into the BHEL complex…it was like going for a safari through Jim Corbett national park with just a single road and lots of trees around…and I was like “am I on the right road…when are we going to see civilization”……but then…there it was…a small little world of its own…a great world of its own.  Almost one year has gone by since then and life’s been a roll coaster since then. Exams, events, cultural fests, drama, studies, classes, guest lectures, booze parties( that’s a secret ok)…u name it…we have it here….here’s a glimpse of some of the events… So as they say on USS Enterprise( Star Trek)…”Welcome aboard
